But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear
heard, neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that
love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by
his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea,
the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10.)

In our natural minds, we don’t know the wonderful
and exciting things God has already prepared for
those who love Him. The Weymouth translation
says, “All that God has in readiness for them that
love Him.” The Amplified Bible translation defines
those who love Him as those “who hold Him in
affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and
gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed.”

The natural eye cannot see it, nor can the natural
ear perceive it. But God reveals these great things
to us by His Spirit—the Holy Spirit—who proceeds
directly from the Father. He reveals these deep
things in our spirits by living in us and leading us into
all truth.

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save
the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things
of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now
we have received, not the spirit of the world, but
the spirit which is of God; that we might know the
things that are freely given to us of God (1 Corinthians
2:11-12).

We have received the Spirit, which is of God, that
we might know what God has freely given to us. The
Holy Spirit reveals the thoughts of God to us so we’ll
understand our Father and walk with Him, even while
we live on this earth. Because God has given us His
Spirit to live in us, we’re able to know the Father
before we go to heaven. We know, comprehend and
understand Him as He reveals Himself to us by His
Spirit. If you understand just a fraction of how
wonderful this truth is, you’ll gladly give the rest of
your life on earth to cultivate fellowship with the
Father.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which
man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost
teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the
Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them, because they are spiritually
discerned (1 Corinthians 2:13-14).

If you don’t spend time in the Word of God and in
prayer, you’ll not understand the words and teachings
of the Holy Spirit. The wisdom of God will be foolishness
to you instead of life. These verses in Weymouth say:

Not in language which man’s wisdom teaches us, but
in that which the Spirit teaches, adapting spiritual
words to spiritual truths. The unspiritual man rejects
the teachings of the Spirit of God; to him they are
folly, and he cannot learn them, because they are
spiritually appraised.

See how unlimited we are in the realm of the spirit?
People will think we know everything when really it’s
the Spirit of God in us—and He knows everything!
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of
the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him.”

Natural men cannot speak in tongues. They think it
is the dumbest thing they’ve ever heard. They don’t
receive the things of the Spirit of God. Yet, on the
other hand, natural men are desperate. They don’t
have any answers. They don’t know what to do next.
But if you’ll begin to live the life of the Spirit in front
of them, they’ll see God in your life and begin to say,
“This is what I need. I must have this. I must have
this life of God in me. Those people are different.
They’re so full of joy and they walk in love. I must
have this.”

Even though the things of God look foolish to the
world, your peaceful life will look so desirable, others
will come to you to find out how to walk in the power
of God.

The Bible says if you pray in an unknown tongue,
you should pray for the interpretation (1 Corinthians
14:13). Although these scriptures are speaking about
interpreting before the congregation, I believe we can
also expect interpretation in our private devotions. You
have probably been doing this without realizing it. In
our private prayer time, many times we pray in tongues
and then pray the interpretation in English without
realizing we are doing both. Just learn to follow the
Holy Spirit and flow with Him. He’s the teacher! The
same Holy Spirit who prays the will of God through
you in tongues can pray the will of God through you
in English, if you’ll interpret it. The interpretation will
come out of your spirit—not your mind—in the
language of the Holy Ghost, comparing spiritual things
with spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:13).

As you spend time daily praying in the spirit, it
becomes easier to hear the direction of the Holy
Spirit as He reveals His will to your spirit.

“So now we serve not under [obedience to] the old
code of written regulations, but [under obedience
to the promptings] of the Spirit in newness [of life]”
(Romans 7:6, amp). Though we are no longer bound
to obey written regulations, we are still to serve
obediently by obeying the promptings of our reborn
spirit, controlled by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit communicates with your spirit. He
dwells in your spirit. I believe this can be an area of
confusion when you’re learning to walk in the spirit.

Nothing is too big a problem when you figure in the
anointing! So take hold of that anointing by beginning
to expect. Start expecting something good to happen
to you. Lay hold of the hope that’s set before you in
the promises of God.

Don’t be a stranger to those promises. Dig into them,
find out what God has said about your situation.
Then start saying, “I expect it because God promised
it!”

Think about that promise and meditate on it. Let it
build an image inside you until you can see yourself
well…until you can see yourself with your bills paid…
until you can see yourself blessed and prosperous
in every way.

If you’ll do that, you’ll eventually get bigger on the
inside than you are on the outside. Your hope will
grow so strong that the devil himself won’t be able
to beat it out of you.

Most believers never experience that kind of
confident hope because they allow their emotions
to pull them off course. They don’t feel healed or
they don’t feel blessed, so they let the promises slip.

You can avoid that pitfall by anchoring your soul.
Anchor it by becoming a follower of people like
Abraham “who through faith and patience inherit
the promises.” (See Hebrews 6:11-20.)

The Bible says Abraham hoped against hope
(Romans 4:18). He used the hope of the promise of
God to fight against the natural “hope”
(or hopelessness) that told him it would be impossible
for Sarah and him to have a child.

Romans 4:21 says he was “fully persuaded that,
what (God) had promised, he was able also to
perform.” Now, Abraham wasn’t always fully
persuaded. There was a time after God had
promised to give him a child when he asked, “How
can I know these things will happen?”

God answered him by cutting a covenant with him.
Abraham killed the covenant sacrifice animals, split
them down the center, laid the halves opposite
each other and God walked in the blood of those
animals. I believe with all my heart Abraham saw
God’s footprints in that blood.

From then on, Abraham’s soul was anchored. His
mind and emotions couldn’t argue with him. His old,
dead body couldn’t argue with him. His barren wife
couldn’t argue with him. That covenant put an end
to all arguments. From then on, Abraham was fully
persuaded. Fully expectant.
