Proverbs 4:1
KJV—Hear, ye children, the instruction of
a father, and attend to know understanding.

NKJV—Hear, my children, the instruction

Proverbs 6:20-22
KJV—My son, keep thy father’s commandment,
and forsake not the law of thy
mother: Bind them continually upon thine
heart, and tie them about thy neck. When
thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou
sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when
thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

NIV—My son, keep your father’s commands
and do not forsake your mother’s
teaching. Bind them upon your heart forever;
sleep, they will watch over you; when you
awake, they will speak to you.

Amp—My son, keep your father’s [Godgiven]
commandment, and forsake not
the law of [God] your mother [taught you].
Bind them continually upon your heart,
and tie them about your neck. When you
go, [the Word of your parents’ God] it
shall lead you; when you sleep, it shall
keep you, and when you waken, it shall
talk with you.

but whoever heeds correction shows
prudence.

KJV—Even a child is known by his doings,
whether his work be pure, and
whether it be right.

whether or not what he does is pure and right.

thee, and despise not thy mother when
she is old.

you, and do not despise your mother
when she is old.

1 Samuel 1:27-28

KJV—For this child I prayed; and the
Lord hath given me my petition which I
asked of him: Therefore also I have lent
him to the Lord; as long as liveth he shall
be lent to the Lord.

NIV—I prayed for this child, and the Lord
has granted me what I asked of him. So
now I give him to the Lord. For his whole
life he will be given over to the Lord.

NAS—For this boy I prayed, and the Lord
has given me my petition which I asked of
Him. So I have also dedicated him to the
Lord; as long as he lives he is dedicated
to the Lord.

Psalm 113:9

KJV—He maketh the barren woman to
keep house, and to be a joyful mother of
children.

NIV—He settles the barren woman in her
home as a happy mother of children.

Amp—He makes the barren woman to
be a homemaker, and a joyful mother of…
children.

Luke 1:36-37

KJV—And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth,
she hath also conceived a son in her old
age: and this is the sixth month with
her, who was called barren. For with God
nothing shall be impossible.

NIV—Even Elizabeth your relative is going
to have a child in her old age, and she who
was said to be barren is in her sixth month.
For nothing is impossible with God.

Weymouth—And see, your relative
Elizabeth—she also has conceived a son in
her old age; and this is the sixth month with
her who was called barren. For no promise
from God will be impossible of fulfillment.

Hebrews 11:11

KJV—Through faith also Sarah herself
received strength to conceive seed, and
was delivered of a child when she was
past age, because she judged him faithful
who had promised.

Amp—Because of faith also Sarah herself
received physical power to conceive
a child, even when she was long past the
age for it, because she considered [God]
Who had given her the promise, reliable
and trustworthy and true to His word.

Weymouth—Through faith even Sarah
herself received strength to become a
mother—although she was past the time
of life for this—because she judged Him
faithful who had given the promise.

Genesis 18:19
KJV—For I know him, that he will command
his children and his household after
him, and they shall keep the way of the
Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the
Lord may bring upon Abraham that which
he hath spoken of him.

NKJV—For I have known him, in order
that he may command his children and
his household after him, that they keep
the way of the Lord, to do righteousness
and justice, that the Lord may bring to
Abraham what He has spoken to him.

NIV—For I have chosen him, so that he
will direct his children and his household
after him to keep the way of the Lord by
doing what is right and just, so that the
Lord will bring about for Abraham what he
has promised him.
